At the recent Singapore-China (Chongqing) Financial Conference held in Chongqing, China, on 22 July 2016, ABC Singapore Branch was invited to participate in the event and to share experiences during the Case Study session of Chongqing Grain Group Lion City Bond Demonstrative Project.  This event was jointly organized by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the Association of Banks in Singapore, Chongqing Financial Affairs Office and Chongqing Connectivity Initiative Administrative Bureau.

ABC Singapore Branch has, erstwhile in July 2016, acted as Joint Global Coordinator, Joint Bookrunner and Joint Lead Manager, to assist Chongqing Grain Group in issuing its 3-year offshore RMB1 billion Bonds in Singapore (Lion City Bonds). This landmark deal is the first direct bond issuance by a Chongqing enterprise in Singapore, under the Chongqing Connectivity Initiative.

During the Case Study session, the Singapore Branch, apart from sharing with the participants on our roles and experiences in the project, also took the opportunity to market ABC’s onshore and offshore collaboration products as well as demonstrate our distribution capabilities to stake a strong foundation for future projects in the region.

The event also provides a platform for the Singapore Branch to explore potential collaboration and synergistic opportunities with prospective clients and the various Chongqing financial institutions. In doing so, it further strengthens the Branch's capabilities in engaging new corporate clients to directly issue bonds in Singapore in the future. 

Moving forward, the Singapore Branch will enhance our collaborations with not only the Singapore and Chinese financial institutions (in Chongqing) but will also extend that to the other mid-western parts of China, to further entrench the repute and branding of Agricultural Bank of China Limited.
